Hello. I hope this email finds you well.In windows, I cannot read files that have a path-length longer than 256. I never had this issue on Mac.

I am aware of Wondows MAX_LENGTH parameter, and I've changed my registry to enable long paths (LongPathsEnabled). I've also made the necessary changes to my group policy (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation?tabs=cmd)

However, R still gives me trouble when reading or writing files that exceed a length of 256.

It appears that software API need to actively opt-in to allow long paths (Add longPathAware to the app manifest on Windows Issue #7986 rust-lang/cargo GitHub<https://github.com/rust-lang/cargo/issues/7986>). Please pass this message along to inquire if R has done so.

All the best,
