[R-gui] wxWindows

Please bear with a noobie here that doesn't know R's history.

Has anyone investigated integrating wxWindows as the GUI 
interface for R?  It is cross platform and looks very well 
thought out.  I did a brief evaluation of it for a project I 
was considering a while back and came away fairly impressed 
although I'm far from a GUI expert.
