Is anyone doing anything with "NIH image" a MAC-based
utility for dealing with tiff images of e.g., gels?
I am getting some data from this system which translates
darkness to numbers. Investigators then use the numbers
as density estimates. There is a windows-based tool
from Scion with similar functionality.

I am preparing to write a library that segments data
from gels by signal-to-noise criteria applied to the
"NIH image" output, but need to learn more about
the processing methods of this system. Seems that hdf5
methods could be relevant.
