Research Associate in Bioinformatics

The Center for Environmental and Rural Health (CERH) at Texas A&M
University is seeking an individual who has the expertise to assist Center
investigators in the statistical and bioinformatic analysis of large
datasets obtained from various high-throughtput studies. Principal duties
and responsabilities will include performing standard statistical analyses
on gene expression datasets, such as ANOVA and clustering algorithms.
Experience with statistical software such as Splus or R and with
bioinformatic packages such as Bioconductor and Genespring will be
preferable. The person will be expected to quickly become familiar with
pathway analysis methods and with maintaining related data bases for major
research projects. Additional training opportunities will be provided.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Ph.D.
statistician and will have an office located in the Statistics department.
Minimum education requirement is a Master in statistics or biostatistics.
Significant experience with computer programming is preferable. Salary and
benefits will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate.

Texas A&M University has an active and expanding interdisciplinary
research and educational program in bioinformatics. The Statistics
department houses a training program in Bioinformatics, funded by NCI,
that contributes to a very active and stimulating environment.
