An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Cambridge, UK facility for a
skilled bioinformatics scientist to
assist in the generation, analysis and interpretation of large-scale
molecular profiling data. A key focus
of the role initially will be to utilise genomic profiling to construct a
comprehensive map of the molecular
basis of retinal cell generation.
Reporting to the head of bioinformatics, the successful candidate will work
closely with our molecular
biologists to design and implement transcriptomic and epigenetic
experiments.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
. Provide informatics-support to the design of Pfizer Regenerative Medicine
molecular profiling projects.
. Creation of data analysis pipelines for the Q/C and normalization of
genomic data
. Development of algorithms and methodologies for integration of multiple
datasets
. Identification and/or development of analysis algorithms to analyse
high-throughput data
. Biological interpretation through Gene Set, Pathways & transcriptional
network analysis
.Presentation & publication at internal and external meetings/journals.
. Be responsible for analyzing large datasets from molecular profiling
studies and interpretation of these
results within the biological system under investigation
. Lead the design & implementation of strategies concerning integration of
multiple genomic datasets.
. Build a strong relationship with key groups within Pfizer, and form
strong, productive collaborations
with academic groups and groups in companies outside of Pfizer.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
. Recently qualified with a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline or a PhD
and experience in a similar
role
. Interest in stem cell biology and its application to human disease.
. Good understanding of the scientific principles of high-throughput genomic
data such as microarray,
ChIP-Seq and next-generation sequencing..
. Practical experience with primary data analysis such as QC, normalization
and statistical modelling
through tools such as R/Bioconductor
. Knowledge of third-party and public domain software for the analysis of
genomic data
. Practical experience with the integration of transcriptome, epigenome and
micro-RNA data and the
interpretation of this data across different domains
. Good working knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl and genomic
resources such as
Ensembl, GEO etc. Experience with pathways and transcription network
analysis would be desirable.

Org Marketing Statement
Imagine a career that touches the lives of people everywhere. Imagine an
opportunity to reach beyond
your area of expertise to make an impact on something greater than the
bottom line. Imagine playing a
key role in some of the most critical issues facing healthcare today. This
is your career at Pfizer - a
career unlike any other.
Department Marketing Statement
Pfizer Regenerative Medicine is a new biotech like research unit, with
research facilities in both
Cambridge UK and Boston USA. We work at the forefront of science using the
latest developments in
stem cell biology to bring novel treatments straight to patients to prevent
disability, repair failing organs
and to treat degenerative diseases.
We currently have a number of exciting programmes, including efforts
focussing upon neuroregeneration
and pancreatic beta cell generation. In addition we have recently announced
a pioneering
collaboration with Professor Pete Coffey at the Institute for Ophthalmology
in London to develop stem
cell therapies to treat macular degeneration. As a key step towards clinical
trials we are seeking to
further understand the biological events in the differentiation of stem
cells into therapeutically relevant
retinal cell types.
For us, this is the start of a new era of medicine - and Pfizer Regenerative
Medicine will not only be part
of it, but shape it.
