[Rd] R-1.8.0 package directory permissions?

What you get comes seems to come from file.exists() saying that the
candidate DESCRIPTION file does not exist.  I cannot reproduce this
problem on Linux.  I don't see how the 711 setting could affect
file.exists() for the owner of the files, though.
