R-beta: Problems with postscript

I've got a lot of problems saving plots using postscript(file="xx.ps")
The quality  is not too good when I print it.
Is there any way to save good quality plots in a file?
Is there, perhaps, another function?
I have tied save.plot(), postscript(), ...
