It might be a matter of how you are printing the file.  I believe that
the postscript files saved from R will be in pure PostScript which is
device-independent.  The quality of the printed copy will be dependent
on the device or the software used to print it.  I don't think I I
have ever had any problems with the quality of printed copies of
PostScript files created by R.

Could you be more specific about what the plot is and what you find
poor quality about it?
