Unfortunately, the egcs-2.91.66 from RH 6.2 is *also* having trouble
with the akima library (and several others with Fortran components),
so I wouldn't set my hopes too high...

Compiling with kgcc *and* using --with-f2c on the configure might
work, but honestly...
