[R] interval data

Hi,
I'm woring on some "interval data" obtained from sampling (i.e.,
something like the results returned by cut() on continuous valued data).

I'm looking for a package to operate on such data, for example computing
the mean, the (empirical) cumulative distribution function, histograms and
the like.

Evidently should't be that difficult to write those functions myself, but
I'm wondering if something similar has already been developed.

Thank you for any hint,

	Massimo Santini
