[R] install problem

I only have a SuSE 8.0 to look at, and that only has a static libg2c,
but

$ rpm -qf /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-suse-linux/2.95.3/libg2c.a
g77-2.95.3-216

so a good guess is that you need to install g77 from the SuSE 8.1
install disks.
