[R] Retrieving objects from functions...

Return it from the function and assign it outside:

foo <- function(anything){
   TheMatrix <- fun(anything)
   return(TheMatrix)
}

result <- foo(something)

Now, you have the resulting matrix assigned to an object called "result".
