This has been implemented in the current development version, so that
SIGUSR1 quits and saves, SIGUSR2 quits and saves without running
on.exit() or .Last().

However, the signals may get repossessed for exception handling at some
point in the future, so it would be unwise to plan for this feature
remaining.
